Oborevwori tasks board members on advancement of Delta

 Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has charged Chairmen and members of boards of parastatals and institutions of government to work harder for the advancement of the State through the MORE agenda. Governor Oborevwori who gave the charge at the inauguration of Boards of Agencies and Institutions of the State Government in Asaba, told the appointees to abide by the code of conduct establishing the boards and ensure proper separation of power between board and management. Those sworn in include: Barr. Innocent Ogboru, Chairman Delta State Library Board; Dr Chris Oharisi - Chairman College of Health Sciences Ofuoma; Chief Solomon Areyinka - Chairman Delta State Urban Water Board; and Chief Tony Oboroh - Chairman Delta Development and Property Authority. Bayelsa To Investigate Palliatives Diversion

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has ordered investigation into the distribution of palliatives with a view to bringing to book culprits who diverted food items. Governor Diri gave the directive during  the State's Executive Council meeting in Government House, Yenagoa, following complaints that some individuals diverted items meant for each ward in the state. The State Government had procured more food items in addition to the five trucks of rice allotted to each State by the Federal Government as part of the measures to cushion the effect of the removal of petrol subsidy on people of the state. Each ward was allocated at least 150 bags of rice apart from maize.  In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, the Governor condemned the action of those who reportedly diverted palliatives entrusted to them for distribution in the 105 wards across the state. Oborevwori presents 2024 appropriation bill of N714.4bn to Delta Assembly

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Wednesday, presented a N714.4 billion Appropriation bill for the 2024 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly. Governor Oborevwori said the budget christened, ‘Budget of Hope and Optimism,’ was made up of recurrent expenditure of N316.6 billion representing 44 per cent and capital expenditure of N397.9 billion representing 56 per cent of the total budget. Gov Eno Releases Another N1.5BN Gratuities For Retired Workers

Governor Umo Eno has directed the immediate  release of an additional 1.5bn Naira for payment of outstanding gratuities of retired workers in the State.  The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Ekerete Udoh who broke the news, said it was a further confirmation of the Governor’s resolve to fulfill his pact with workers in the State.  During his campaign, Pastor Eno had promised to continue paying backlog of gratuity from where his immediate predecessor in office had stopped. The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has partnered with Emergency Response Africa (ERA) to launch a Technology-Enabled Emergency Medical Services Project (FID-EMS), a transformative initiative to revolutionize emergency healthcare response and boost health insurance enrollment in Edo State. The Funds for Innovation in Development (FID), a financing mechanism of the French Government, committed to battling poverty and inequality, is the key funder of the project. The FID-EMS Project spearheaded by the Edo State Government is a response to Nigeria's significant emergency healthcare crisis, where 54% of the country’s deaths could be prevented with timely emergency medical response, resulting in over 1.23 million unnecessary fatalities. Governor Dauda Lawal has vowed to end the persistent problem of banditry in Zamfara State. On Wednesday, the Governor visited the Community Protection Guards (CPG) training camp, an initiative of his administration to combat banditry in the state. A statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, noted that the ongoing Community Protection Guards (CPG) training has instilled hope and confidence in the fight against insecurity in Zamfara. According to him, the recruitment process for the Community Protection Guards (CPG) was a rigorous one, with 300 individuals selected from each of the 14 Local Government Areas of the state. Diri Presents N480.9bn 2024 Budget To Bayelsa Assembly

 ...Infrastructure, Education, Health, Top Appropriation Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, on Wednesday, presented the 2024 budget of N480.99 billion to the State House of Assembly for consideration and passage. Presenting the appropriation bill christened: "Budget of Sustainable and Shared Prosperity," Governor Diri recalled that in October 2023, the assembly approved the 2024-2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper (MTEF and FSP) for the state. He explained that the budget proposal was predicated on the assumptions contained in the approval of the assembly. His words: “Mr. Speaker, I wish to present the 2024 budget estimates to the House. We are guided by the desire to prepare a realistic, implementable and prioritised budget, which is a reflection of the aspirations and wishes of critical stakeholders, and the economic realities in the country."
