2023 Bayelsa Christmas Carols: Gov. Diri preaches love, peace, unity

... as different groups present special numbers

It was a colourful night at the Gabriel Okara Cultural centre, Yenagoa, venue of this year's Bayelsa State Festival of Nine Lessons and Christmas Carols graced by Governor Douye Diri and other top government functionaries.

The event put together by the Office of the Special Adviser on Religious Matters, Rev. Godspower Asingba, featured powerful songs ministrations from various choir groups and gospel artistes including Bayelsa-born award-winning star, Preye Odede.

The State Judiciary arm choir led by the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Matilda Ayemieye Abrakasa, stole the show with their great renditions.

Other choir groups including those by the Commissioners, members of the Civil service and a few others equally performed their special songs.

In his brief message, Governor Diri urged the people to embrace love, peace and unity as key ingredients toward building a brighter future for Bayelsa State.

He seized the occasion to wish the people a joyous Christmas and blessed 2024 in advance.

In attendance were Senator Konbowei Friday Benson, Hon. Mitema Obordor, Rtd. Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah, former Deputy Governor, King Alfred Papapreye Diete-Spiff, Ambassador Felix Oboro, Bayelsa-born Nigerian music star, Inetimi Odon, Timaya, and a number of clergymen including ArchBishop Winning Willy Bunting, who gave the word.
