...appreciates God, the people for their support

... says he resisted divisive antics to cause disharmony with Sen. Dickson

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has appreciated God and the people of the State for standing firmly with him before, during and after the November 11 gubernatorial election.

The Governor who was overwhelmed with joy while speaking at the November edition of the Praise Night at the Kings of Glory Chapel, said he would continue to appreciate God for his mercies to ensure the election was free and fair devoid of violence.

He thanked leaders of the State particularly the former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, and the immediate past Governor, Senator Seriake Dickson, for supporting the Prosperity Administration in the sustenance of peace, security and development of the state in the next four years.

Gov. Diri said: "This victory is not for me and my Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo but for Bayelsa. On that day, elections held in 3 states, but ours is referenced as the most freest and fairest.

It was God who delivered Bayelsa.Let's continue to praise God.

I commend the people of Bayelsa, for standing firmly with us.

I resisted all moves to bring disunity between myself and my immediate predecessor who brought us into office, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson. My task is to bring our people and leaders together. Our father, Dr. Jonathan, was firm and supportive, a man globally honoured. In our election, all key leaders were united behind me- that peace, security and development in Bayelsa must continue", Gov. Diri stated.

The Praise Night was graced by the Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, the Chief Judge of the State, Justice (Mrs.) Matilda Ayemieye Abrakasa, other top government functionaries and Christian faithful.
