Police Honours Gov Eno With Award of Excellence

 … as Gov pledges continuous support to enhance security in State

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has been honoured by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Akwa Ibom State Command, for his unwavering support to the command and other security agencies in the State.

The award ceremony took place on Sunday, April 27, 2025, during the Command’s Dinner and Award Night held at Ibom Hall, Uyo.

Presenting the award, the Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, lauded Governor Eno for his commitment to improving policing services and fostering a safe environment for residents.

In his remarks at the event, Governor Eno expressed gratitude for the recognition and commended the synergy among the different security agencies in the State.

“We are indeed so grateful and thankful to the CP for his creativity and synergy with other security agencies to combat crime in the State.”

The Governor commended the Police Command for hosting the event, describing it as a demonstration of innovative police-public relations and proof that excellence is not limited to Abuja.

“I also thank sister security agencies for their collaboration in ensuring peace in Akwa Ibom. The success of one agency is the success of all,” he said.

Governor Eno promised to continue to support the agencies to enhance effective policing across the State.

The State Chief Executive reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to making Akwa Ibom a major tourism destination and announced plans to flag off a 5,000-capacity international conference centre, as well as Ibom Hotels.

He paid tribute to notable officers such as retired Deputy Commissioner of Police, Francis Erhabor, and the late former Commissioner of Police, Washeed Ayilara, for their contributions to the State’s security architecture, especially the late Commissioner for the role he played in the ongoing construction of a Command and Control Centre.
Other awardees at the event included the Senate President, Chief Godswill Akpabio, and his wife, Dr. Unoma Akpabio; the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun; Assistant Inspector General of Police, Mustapha Mohamed Bala; Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; the Oku Ibom Ibibio, Ntenyin Solomon Etuk; the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Essien Udom, SAN; Commissioners for Internal Security, Works and Fire Service, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs — Gen. Koko Essien (Rtd.), Prof. Eno Ibanga, and Frank Archibong respectively; Special Adviser on Security, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi (Rtd.); the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Amos Etuk; and the State Chairperson of the National Association of Women Journalists, Comrade Nsikak Okon, amongst others.
