Governor Agbu Kefas Inaugurates Two Committees

The Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas, has inaugurated a commission of inquiry to investigate the root cause of the Karim Lamido crisis that claimed several lives and properties, as well as the Steering Committee for the Taraba State Initiative for Farmland and Forest Occupation, TIFFO.
The inauguration of the two groups took place on Tuesday 24th of June 2025 at the Banquet Hall, TY Danjuma House, Jalingo.
In his address at the inauguration, Dr Agbu Kefas said the commission of inquiry into the Karim Lamido crisis was constituted to facilitate the restoration of peace and stability, investigate the remote cause of the crisis, identify and bring to Justice those who sponsored and instigated the crisis, promote reconciliation and ensure justice.
He said impunity will no longer find sanctuary in the state and urged the commission to seek the truth and find lasting peace.
On the Taraba Initiative for Farmland and Forest Occupation (TIFFO), the Governor said it represents a bold, structured response to regulate, and secure farmlands and forest reserves across the state
Governor Agbu Kefas expressed optimism that TIFFO would serve as a long-term strategy for land use, environmental protection, and agricultural development, while also curbing land-related disputes and unauthorised occupation.
In their separate acceptance speeches, the Emir of Muri, Abbas Njidda Tafida, and the Chairman of the Commission of Inquiry, Justice Silas Haruna (rtd), expressed gratitude to the governor for finding them worthy of the assignments.
They pledged their commitment to serve with diligence, fairness, and integrity.
The occasion was attended by top government Functionaries and traditional rulers across the state.
