Taraba Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas visits Chief of Naval Sta

The Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has requested the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, to establish a Naval base in the state to combat security challenges.

The Governor made the call this Monday when he paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of Naval Staff at the Naval Headquarters, Abuja.


Speaking at the Conference Hall of the Naval Headquarters Abuja, the Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas who congratulated the Chief of Naval Staff on his appointment, said he was at the Naval Headquarters to foster collaboration with the Navy to safeguard the lives of the people of the state.

Dr. Agbu Kefas noted that the Navy is key in providing desired security to the state considering the presence of tributaries of rivers across the state, and involving the Navy became imperative.

According to the Governor, Taraba State shared borders with six States and the Republic of Cameroon, hence the need for adequate security strategies.

The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, on his part commended the Governor for the visit and said modalities for the establishment of a Naval base at Kashimbilla Dam in Takum will be worked upon.

Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla assured the Governor that the residents of the state would be carried along in their activities and reiterated his commitment to contribute to the security of the Taraba State.

The Chief of Naval Staff presented souvenirs to the Governor and the Governor also presented the Taraba's Highland Tea to the Chief of Naval Staff.

The Governor was accompanied on the visit by all National Assembly Members from Taraba State, among others.
