Bauchi Was A Failed State When I Came On Board, Gov Mohammed Declares

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has described Bauchi State as a ‘failed State’ where nothing was working as at the date he took over the mantle of leadership on May 29th, 2019.
The Governor made the expression when he presented the 2020 proposed budget tagged ‘Budget of Renewal of Hope’ as he assured: “I will convert weakness into opportunity and challenges into chances so as to ensure not only the survival of the State, but to take her to greater heights”.
Bala Mohammed also used the opportunity to pledge equal opportunity to the citizens of the State without any bias to political, religious or tribal consideration just as he reaffirmed his desire to run a government that is open, transparent, all-inclusive and accountable.
According to him, to justify the confidence reposed in him by the entire citizens of the State, his administration would come up with policies that will improve their lives in all ramifications.
While speaking on general administration, the Governor said that the administration will continue to collaborate with all relevant security outfits to ensure effective intelligence gathering and preventive actions for peace and stability to reign across the State.
As for the civil service, he assured the civil servants that there was no plan by the government to victimise anyone, but insisted that the era of ghost workers must come to an end and for the speedy development of the State.
The Governor, who noted that tourism is a major contributor to income generation, provision of employment opportunities and foreign exchange earnings, announced that arrangements are on top gear towards the revitalisation of Yankari Games Reserve and Safari, Sumu Wildlife Park and other tourism centres across the State to become foreign exchange earner for the State.
He also said that with the discovery of crude oil in the State, the State Government is doing everything possible to provide a conducive environment for the companies working on the exploration in order to operate in a peaceful atmosphere.
On education, the Governor said that his administration has already awarded a contract for the construction of 238 and renovation of 406 primary schools, while 17,466 units of furniture were purchased and distributed to all the schools in the State.
To this end, Governor Bala Mohammed said that with the postings of Commissioners, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants as well as Local Government Caretaker Chairmen, his administration is set to face the management of affairs of the State in earnest.
