Obaseki to offset bills of indigent patients in UBTH

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has said the Equity Funds component of the state’s Health Insurance Scheme would be deployed to offset bills of indigent patients at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH). He reassured that his government will sustain reforms in the healthcare system to reposition the state as the country’s medical hub. Obaseki gave the assurance when he received the Chief Medical Director of the University of UBTH, Prof. Darlington Obaseki, who was on a courtesy visit to the Government House in Benin City. The governor noted: “We have no choice but to support you because your success is our success. So, in terms of road rehabilitation in your hospital, we are coming straight to it; we don't have enough but we will do it. "I will talk to the Edo Healthcare Insurance Scheme so that we can make funds available from the equity funds to offset the bills of the poorest of the poor who cannot pay for the quality of services you have offered them.

Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie  Ikpeazu has charged India Scholarship beneficiaries from the State to be focused in their studies and uphold good manners in their academic pursuit so as to justify the State's investment in their education.  Governor Ikpeazu made the call at the Governor's Lodge Aba when he received the Executive Secretary and members of Abia State Scholarship Board along with beneficiaries of the scheme who are scheduled to depart the country for India on the 9th of October.  Ikpeazu emphasized that the decision to secure overseas scholarship for our youths is driven by his administration's understanding that capacity building is key and a great vision that is transgenerational . At the end of the deliberations of the PDP National Zoning Committee , it was resolved as follows: 1. The National Zoning Committee of the PDP was given the mandate to zone National offices to be contested by all PDP Members of the Party at the PDP National  Convention of the Party scheduled for October 30/31 2021 by the National Executive Committee of the Party. 2. That the mandate of the  Committee does not include Zoning of the offices of the President,  Vice President and other Executive and Legislative offices of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. And the decision of the Committee to zone the Party offices does not in any way affect the executive and legislative offices in Nigeria. 3. That zoning of offices on PDP has traditionally been between the North and South of Nigeria.  4.The decision of the PDP Zoning Committee is in line with the Constitution of the Party on Zoning and rotation of Party and national offices in the interest of justice, equity and fairness. The Zoning Committee of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) is currently meeting ahead of the 2021 National Convention at Fraser Suites, Abuja.  The committee is chaired by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, while Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State is the vice Chairman and Deputy Governor of Zamfara State Mahdi Aliyu Mohammed is the secretary of the Committee. Makinde receives new Inspector of Police, requests another Mobile Police Squadron in Oyo

Makinde, who made the request while hosting the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba in his office,  stated that the immediate past IGP had given a verbal approval for the Mobile Squadron before his retirement. Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has expressed deep grief and sadness over the death of renowned academic and former Deputy Vice Chancellor of the Abia State University, Late Professor Anthony Nwabughogu. The Governor described the Late Professor as a first grade intellectual who dedicated his entire life to the pursuit of academic excellence and the impartation of same into his students for several years. According to the Governor, "Professor Nwabughogu was one of the most respected authorities in the field of Economic History in Nigeria and beyond. A pioneer staff of the Abia State University where he joined as a young lecturer from the University of Calabar, Nwabughogu remained one of the longest serving academics in our University, rising to become the Deputy Vice Chancellor. He gave a greater part of his working life to our University and together with his entire family, helped to create a solid University Community". "The very erudite Professor has played the roles assigned
