The State Chief Executive Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has expressed appreciation to Traditional Rulers in the State for their role in ensuring the security of their domain, the development of youths, women, and the overall development of the State. (Prof) Lawrence Baraebibai Ekpebu, was on Saturday interred at his hometown, Okoloba, Sabagreia in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. The late Nigerian Ambassador to the Ivory Coast was given a state burial by the state government. Amb. Ekpebu, who died on January 2 this year at the age of  87, also attended Princeton University, another Ivy League institution in the U.S. The late accomplished scholar, diplomat, public administrator and intellectual colossus set an enviable academic record at Harvard yet to be broken more than 50 years after. Bauchi State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has said that he is eminently qualified, competent and vigorous to salvage his fatherland if given the opportunity.  Mohammed was speaking today shortly after being screened by the People's Democratic Party (PDP) committee at Legacy House, Maitama Abuja.  According to Mohammed who pledged to support the candidature of whoever emerges as the presidential candidate of the PDP, as a democrat, he believes in the unity and progress of Nigeria adding that providing youths with business opportunities and addressing the hardship caused by poor leadership, remain his top priority.  Governor Bala appreciated the support from his fellow aspirants adding that the PDP will make Nigeria great again by working together with relevant stakeholders, hence, the need to ensure fairness in the exercise.

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has challenged the Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Senator George Akume, to list the achievements he has recorded since 1999 as governor, senator and minister.  Governor Ortom tasked Akume to specifically enumerate his projects as a two-term governor; his achievements as a three-time senator representing Benue North West Senatorial District, as well as the projects he has attracted to the state now that he is a minister for three years.  “This is someone who has benefited tremendously from the goodwill of Benue people who voted him for two terms as governor, three terms as senator, and now he is a minister representing the state. Obaseki hands over defunct Edo College of Education, urges FG to name institution after Tayo Akpata

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Thursday, handed over the defunct Edo College of Education, Ekiadolor to the Federal Government, imploring the government to rename the citadel of learning after the Executive Secretary of the defunct Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) and one-time Commissioner for Education in old Bendel State, Chief Tayo Akpata. Obaseki handed over the institution to the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, reassuring that his administration will sustain investment in technical and vocational education in the state. Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has praised youths for their massive involvement in sporting activities, and also winning laurels for the state, noting that sports remain a variable tool for engaging and shaping youths into having blissful careers. The Governor stated this while flagging off the distribution of football jerseys to the 206 participating teams at the Bayelsa Governor's Football Tournament, and also announcing cash reward for the state's contingent at the just concluded first ever National Para Games, where the state came tops with 93 medals. Senator Diri who was amazed with the number of registered teams for the tournament, otherwise known as "The Prosperity Cup", urged the players to be focused on tourney, and not be caught in any form of misconduct or violence throughout the competition. Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has sworn in two new advisers.  They are Terver Akase, the immediate past Chief Press Secretary who had resigned in 2021 to contest in the 2023 governorship election and Andrew Kputu.  The Governor, at a ceremony in the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi, said the appointment of the new advisers became necessary to increase the number of those giving quality services to the state.  The Governor also said apart from the  policy of his administration to encourage and empower the youths, the duo merited the appointments having prepared themselves and shown the capacity to deliver.  He particularly expressed optimism that as a geologist, Kputu would deploy his wealth of experience to ensure that the state maximizes the benefit of having mineral resources, especially gold that has just been discovered in Kwande Local Government.  Governor Ortom enjoined the new Special Advisers to acquaint themselves and be guided by the policy document of his administration as

Ortom Charges Communities To Protect Facilities Located In Their Domain

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has charged communities in the state to always be ready to protect government infrastructures in their domain.  The Governor gave the charge Thursday, April 28th, 2022 when a delegation from  Ugondo Mega Layout community in Makurdi paid him a courtesy visit at the Benue Peoples House.  The delegation compromised leaders from Ayihe, Tigi, Tse-Shigh and Tse-Kwembe that make up the Mega Layout.  He said community leaders should ensure that criminals are not allowed to vandalise facilities provided for them by mobilising enough security to protect them.  The Governor who lamented that an electricity transformer which government had provided for the community was vandalized by hoodlums said communities need to take responsibility of government infrastructure provided for them.  While appreciating the delegation from the Ugondo Community for recognizing the minimum efforts his administration has made in uplifting their living standards, Governor Ortom assu

...Presents Jerseys To  Prosperity Cup Teams Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has given cash rewards to the victorious state team to the recent para games. Bayelsa State emerged champions of the first National Para Games held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja with a total of 93 medals. A breakdown shows that the team won 31 gold, 30 silver and 32 bronze medals at the championship. Speaking after the state's weekly jogging exercise at the Samson Siasia Stadium on Thursday morning, the governor thanked members of the team for making the state proud. A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, disclosed that gold medalists were rewarded with N300,000, silver medalists N200,000 while bronze winners got N150,000.  Coaches in the different categories also got similar amounts while participants that did not win medals were given N50,000 each.
