Enugu Govt Has Executed 1,355 School Projects Across 17 LGAs - ENSUBEB Chairman

…Says Aguobia-Nomeh school, others already captured for intervention in next phase The administration of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State said it has carried out 1,355 verifiable projects in various primary and secondary schools across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state, under the State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB) and Post Primary Schools Management Board (PPSMB), in line with its vision to improve the learning condition of the students. The state government disclosed that besides recruiting 7,030 primary and secondary school teachers, it procured and distributed over 48,000 classroom furniture and other learning tools for school children and their teachers across the state. Bayelsa Bans Logging, Deforestation Activities

Bayelsa State government has halted logging without permit and other deforestation activities in order to protect the state's forest reserves. Henceforth, all commercial timber dealers are to obtain permit from the Ministry of Environment before embarking on logging activities. Governor Douye Diri, who stated this on Monday during this year's International Day of Forests celebration in Yenagoa, also directed that an executive bill in consultation with the Environment Ministry and related civil society organisations be prepared and forwarded to the House of Assembly.  A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, said the governor also said that the new bill would repeal existing environmental laws that are now obsolete.
