Makinde bags Vanguard’s Governor of the Year Award

...says award will spur me to do more Oyo State Governor, 'Seyi Makinde, was on Friday, in Lagos, conferred with the award of Governor of the Year, 2022 by Vanguard Media Limited. Vanguard's General Manager, Mr. Gbenga Adefaye, and a team of Editors had earlier in January visited the Government House Agodi, Ibadan, where they intimated the Governor of the decision of the Board of Editors to confer the award on him for exemplary service delivery in the past 44 months. Adefaye, who spoke on behalf of the organisation said that Makinde had excelled in the area of Health, Education, Security and Expanded economy. He added that the organisation was proud to associate with the Governor whom he said, had made  development of his people his primary concern. Diri Dedicates The Sun Award To Bayelsa Flood Victims

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has saluted the resilience of people of the state while dedicating the 2022 Governor of the Year Award by The Sun Newspapers to victims of last year’s monster floods in the state. Speaking in Lagos on Saturday night shortly after he received the award, Governor Diri expressed delight that people of the state were able to surmount the challenges presented by the disaster. Ortom Cautions Nigerians Against Inflammatory Statements on Security Issues

The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has urged Nigerians to refrain from making unguarded and inflammatory statements concerning security issues in the country. Governor Ortom spoke Monday, January 30th, 2023 at the Government House, Lafia during a condolence visit to the Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule over the death of his son, Hassan Sule. Ortom who sympathized with Governor Sule over the demise of his son and recent killings in Nasarawa state urged people to restrain from making comments that create confusion.  Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has described as mischievous, allegations linking his government to recent killings from an air raid on a settlement in Nasarawa State. The Governor stated that neither him or his government had a hand in the unfortunate incident. He maintained that he did not order anyone to carry out such act, insisting that he has no such powers to order such an air raid operation which resulted in the killings.  Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has described as commendable the listing of the Nembe-Brass Road among federal projects under the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) Road Tax Scheme by the Federal Government. The Federal Executive Council (FEC) at its meeting last week named the long-conceived federal road among 44 other selected projects to be constructed in partnership with the NNPCL. Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has announced a reward package for athletes that represented the state at the 2022 National Sports Festival held at Asaba, Delta State. Bayelsa placed a historic second behind Delta, surpassing its earlier best position of third recorded at the 2020 festival hosted by Edo State in 2021. Governor Diri, who received the state’s contingent on Wednesday inside the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House, Yenagoa, recalled that Bayelsa won 109 gold, 104 silver and 87 bronze medals.  The rescued victims of the Igueben train station kidnap incident in Edo State, have narrated their ordeal with the kidnappers and hailed the Edo State Government for ensuring their safe return to their families.
