We'll Focus on Youths as Driving Political Force - Ayu

Newly elected National Chairman of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu has hinted that the party under his leadership will focus on youths and women inclusiveness to improve the party's fortunes in the country.  He spoke Sunday, October 31st, 2021 in Abuja while addressing Benue delegates and PDP stakeholders at the Benue State Governor's Lodge, Asokoro after his emergence in the just concluded National Convention of the party.  Senator Ayu explained that young people play pivotal roles in winning elections and urged PDP faithful to reach out to as many as possible, stressing that big names matter but should not be the only alternative in prosecuting elections. PDP Elects New NWC Says Party On Rescue Mission

The People's Democratic Party has elected a new National Working Committee to oversee affairs of PDP in the next four years.  Delegates who converged on Abuja were in high spirit and one accord to make a statement. They have come from all the 36 States of Nigeria to vote in new party executive. It took the Fintiri led National Convention Organising Committee only 6 weeks to plan and execute this successful process. The Dr Iyorchia Ayu led NWC will however have to wait until December 9th to assume office. This is to enable the present Working Committee serve out its tenure. Voting started around 6 pm on Saturday through the night ending at 4:30 Sunday morning.  Out of the 21 offices contested, 18 were unopposed including that of the National Chairman. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has just elected a new set of members into its National Working Committee (NWC) to take over the leadership of the party. Twenty-one people were elected at the party national convention which began on Saturday October 30 and lasted till Sunday October 31 at the Eagle Square in Abuja. PDP Convention On Course Fintiri

The Chairman of the People's Democratic Party National Convention Organising Committee, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri  says the Party has been vindicated with the judgment of the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt.  Addressing Members of the various committees hours before the convention in Abuja, Governor Fintiri said all is set for the process on Saturday. He said the convention is on course. Governor Fintiri however notes that the Courts decision is victory for democracy and not for any individual or party.  He commended the various sub committees for working assiduously to ensure the success of the exercise.  Governor Fintiri stated that the strength of the committee is in its members working together and agreeing on the outcome of the convention.  He reassured them that their sacrifices will not be in vain having put in so much towards the success of the convention, saying the party is going into Saturdays convention as a happy party using the occasion to put APC on notice that

2021 PDP Convention: 3,600 Delegates to Vote Saturday

3,600 Delegates are expected to vote during the October 30th Peoples Democratic Party National Convention.  Governor Fintiri of Adamawa State who is the Chairman of the Organising Committee disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja ahead of Saturdays  Convention.  The Governor noted that the convention will adopt open secret balloting during the process.  Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri also announced that positions being contested for have been streamlined with only three still being negotiated. Rt. Hon. Fintiri noted that the Appeals Committee has upheld the disqualification of those earlier declared ineligible.  Governor Fintiri used the opportunity to commend the National Working Committee of the party for working assiduously to bring the party to where it is today. People's Democratic Party National Convention Appeals Committee has submitted its report to the Organising Committee Chairman Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at a brief ceremony in Abuja.  The Chairman applauded the Committee for conducting a transparent process that further gives credence to the convention organising committee and the readiness of the party to ensure everybody is carried along. The Governors elected on the platform of The PDP are currently in a meeting to discuss party matters and reports of various Committees  on the preparation of the  forthcoming National Convention. The National Convention Organising Committee Chaired by Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri  is expected to brief his colleague Governors on the preparations towards the. Convention. Four PDP Governors Visit Mimiko in Ondo

  Four Governors under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) met with the former governor of Ondo state, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, at his Ondo city residence. The governors are Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Aminu Tambuwal, (Sokoto) Okezie Ipeazu, (Ábíá) At the meeting are former deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi, three members of the Ondo state house of assembly, Rasheed Elegbeleye, Tomide Akinribido, Festus Akingbaso, former speaker, Jumoke Akindele, former chief Judge, Olaseinde Kumuyi and deputy governorship Candidate of ZLP in the 2020 election, Gboye Adegbenro. Benue State Position on The National Livestock Transformation Program Remain Unchanged

We read insinuations in the media where former Presidential aide, Laureta Onochie tried to give a false narrative about the stand of Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on the implementation of the National Livestock Transformation Plan, NLTP.  Onochie made spurious allegations, painting the picture that Governor Ortom supports RUGA because the State Government was listed as one of the states that applied for funds from the Federal Government for the purposes of establishing Ranches.  It is on record that Governor Ortom has rejected all manner of coinage from the Federal Government in a bid to grab land from Benue State.  When the Federal Government toyed with so many ideas, ranging from Open Grazing, Grazing Reserves, Grazing Routes, Cattle Colony, RUGA and lastly Farm Centres in the 109 Senatorial Districts across the country in a very suspicious manner, Governor Ortom rose up and opposed it. Tambuwal: Nigeria Faces Quagmire If the People Aren’t Part of Constitutional Amendment

Nigeria as a country will be mired in perpetual confusion if the amendment of its current Constitution is not the brainchild of the citizens. Consequently, if such exercise should be contemplated and carried out, the document that would emerge should make provision for a referendum as a prerequisite for the conduct of any similar future undertakings. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto made this observation Wednesday at the closing plenary of the  61st conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) titled: ‘We the People…: A Debate On Constitutional Amendment’ in Port Harcourt, Rivers state moderated by Joe-Kyari Gadzama (SAN). Ortom Proposes 155.6bn Budget For 2022

Benue State Government has proposed to spend N156.6billion in the 2022 fiscal year.  The State Governor, Samuel Ortom stated this Wednesday October 27th, 2021 while presenting the 2022 appropriation budget proposal to the Benue State House of Assembly.  Governor Ortom said the proposed budget christened "Economic Advancement and Growth" has 98.7 billion naira as recurrent expenditure while capital receipt is 61.8 billion naira.  According to Governor Ortom, a further break down of the budget shows that the economy gets 56.7 billion, social 46.9 billion, administration 43.8 billion and law and justice 8.1 billion naira.
