Gov Emmanuel Swears In 2 New Judges For A'Ibom State High Court

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has sworn in two new High Court Judges for the Akwa Ibom State Judiciary. They are Justice Eme Daniel Ekong and Justice Effiong Asuquo Effiong.  Princess Eme Ekong, 56, after being called to Bar in December 1990, has served in the  Akwa Ibom State Judiciary and rose through the ranks to the position of Chief Magistrate 1, while Effiong Effiong FCIA, 48, last served as Chief Registrar in the State Judiciary, prior to the appointment. Speaking after administering the oaths of allegiance and office, the State Chief Executive congratulated the newly sworn in benchers and commended the contributions of the Judiciary to the functioning of the state government. The Judges took the oath of office on Thursday inside the Executive Chambers of Government House, Yenagoa, based on the recommendation of the National Judicial Council (NJC). They include a former Registrar of the state High Court, James Lookie, a Law lecturer at the Niger Delta University, Dr. Simon Amaduobogha, and legal practitioners, Mrs. Christine Enegesi and Mrs. Patience Zuofa-Diri. SOSG Backs Multi-million Caliphate Studies Center In Sokoto Varsity

Gov. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state has reiterated his administration’s commitment to the successful take-off of a Caliphate Studies Center (CSC) to be domiciled at the Sokoto State University, Sokoto. Already the plan to set up the center, according to the Sultan of Sokoto, who is also the initiator of the idea, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has got the boost of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), which has set aside N1 billion for its take-off. This is as the state government also set aside N600 million for the funding of Islamiyya schools under the purview of the state Arabic and Islamic Education Board (AIEB), for which a law is in the pipeline to upgrade it to a Commission. Gov. Ugwuanyi signs N186.64 billion 2022 budget into law

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, on Thursday, assented to the 2022 appropriation bill of N186,635,135,582.00 (One Hundred and Eighty Six Billion, Six Hundred and Thirty Five Million, One Hundred and Thirty Five Thousand, Five Hundred and Eighty Two Naira) passed by the State House of Assembly on Wednesday, December 29, 2021.  Presenting the appropriation bill to Gov. Ugwuanyi for assent, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Edward Ubosi disclosed that the budget proposal was not contentious, stressing that “it was a very wonderful budget of international standard”. He pointed out that 38 percent Recurrent Expenditure and 62 percent Capital Expenditure contained in the budget met international standard.  Hon. Gov Ortom Congratulates 52 Year Old Och'Idoma-Elect

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has congratulated the Och'Idoma-elect, Pastor John Elaigwu Odogbo on his election as the 5th paramount ruler of the Idoma nation.  Governor Ortom on Thursday,  December 30th, 2021 at the Benue Peoples House Makurdi, received the Och'Idoma-let when the later was presented to him by the selection committee, led by Commissioner for Housing, Chief Ekpe Ogbu.  The Governor prayed God to provide the anointing on the new paramount ruler to be able to discharge his duties effectively, even as he pledged sustained support of his administration to the traditional institution.  He also pledged his administration's commitment to justice, fairness and equity at all times, stressing that as someone who comes from one of the least communities in the state, he will always allow God's will to prevail.  The Governor also congratulated the selection committee, kingmakers and all stakeholders who played key roles in the emergence of the new Och'Idoma.

Gov Diri Signs N314.4bn Appropriation Bill Into Law

  Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, on Thursday, signed into law the state’s 2022 Appropriation Bill, which was passed by the House of Assembly. Governor Diri assented to the bill in his office in Government House, Yenagoa in the presence of the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Abraham Ingobere, his deputy, Michael Ogbere, the House Leader, Monday Bubou, other principal officers of the assembly and top government functionaries. Governor Diri had in October presented to the assembly the bill tagged “Budget of Sustainable Growth” of N310,717,608,362. Speaker of the assembly, Abraham Ingobere, however, explained that the original figure was increased by N3,747,410,619. The governor expressed happiness that the budget was speedily passed by the assembly within the 2021 fiscal year.
