Gov. Bala moves to Create Sayawa Chiefdom, constitutes Committee

Governor Bala of Bauchi State has inaugurated a 31-member committee to suggest ways for the actualization of Sayawa Chiefdom.

The Committee headed by Ambassador Jibrin Baba Chinade is to review and make recommendations on the earlier reports submitted by a number of white paper committees constituted by previous administrations in attempts to establish the Chiefdom.

While inaugurating the committee in Government House, Bauchi, Governor Bala Mohammed said they are expected to propose modalities and legal framework for successful establishment of the chiefdom.

"Part of the committee's terms of reference was also to proffer solution to the controvercy surrounding the most suitable location for headquarters of the Sayawa traditional title," he said.

The Governor expressed confidence that the move will bring to an end the lingering issue, and called on the committee to live up to its responsibility.

Addressing the gathering, the Committee Chairman, Ambassador Jibrin Baba Chinade, pledged to justify the confidence reposed in them.

He sought for the support and cooperation of all the relevant stakeholders to enable them succeed.

This initiative by the previous administration of Mallam Isa Yuguda had proposed Marti in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area as the headquarters of the chiefdom but the move was opposed by most of the stakeholders.
