RSU Medical College a Dream Come True - Wike
The Rivers State Government says the approval of a Medical College for the Rivers State University (RSU) was a dream come true for the Government and People of the State.
The State Chief Executive, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike stated this while declaring open the 9th Plenary Session of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, in Port Harcourt on Wednesday 15th December, 2021.
Represented by his Deputy, Dr. (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo, Governor Wike said the last time the Council visited and made some observations of things that needs to be done at RSU, adding that under his watch ,the State Government released all the required funds to remedy the deficiencies and was able fulfil all requirements for accreditation.
The State Chief Executive, while asserting that the State has been able to contribute its quota to the growth of Medical Education in Nigeria, expressed gratitude to the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria for the approval of 100 students per session for the University.
Governor wike said in line with our partnership with PAMO University the State Government sponsors over a hundred students in Medicine and Allied Professions annually.

According to the Governor, even though the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria was inaugurated three years behind Schedule, the Council has been able to deliver on its mandate and congratulated them for the successes they have recorded so far.
In his remarks the Chairman Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, Prof. Abba Hassan said the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria Council was in Port Harcourt to for the 9th Session of the Council which started on Monday, adding that the plenary session would afford members the opportunity to brain storm on how to move the Council forward.
