Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has prayed for a new Nigeria where peace and security will be guaranteed even as he tasks citizens to join the vanguard to rescue the country from all forms of malaise. This he opined can be realised, "if we consciously participate in the electoral process to elect credible leaders into various offices in 2023." Governor Ortom in a goodwill message to Nigerians marking the new year also canvassed for an egalitarian society where every citizen is free to ply his or her legitimate trade according to the dictates of the law and order in any part of the country without fear of molestation or intimidation. ...Gov. Diri Commends Agencies, Residents Bayelsa State Government has commenced the training of recruits into its Community Safety Corps. No fewer than 607 selected recruits are currently undergoing training at the Bayelsa Sports Institute at Asoama in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of the state. The Chief Security Coordinator and Coordinator of the Bayelsa State Community Safety Corps, Brig-Gen. Eric Angaye (rtd), disclosed this during a briefing after the state’s 21st security council meeting presided over by Governor Douye Diri at Government House, Yenagoa. Gen. Angaye said at the end of the two-month training, the recruits would assist the police to enhance security in the state. He explained that they would be deployed to all communities across the state. Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State  has signed into law the 2023 appropriation bill of N198 billion. The rank and file of the Sokoto branch of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) was significantly depleted Wednesday when the party Chairman and the state deputy gubernatorial candidate dumped it. The erstwhile chairman of Sokoto state NNPP and deputy gubernatorial candidate are: Alhaji Bello Ahmad and Alhaji Ibrahim Ango respectively.  The season of Christmas is upon us again, signaling the end of yet another year.  On behalf of my family and the Government of Prosperity, I send best wishes to all Christians in Bayelsa, and, indeed, around the world, for a Merry Christmas. The birth of Jesus our Saviour brought good tidings to mankind. So, Christmas is another time for Christians and followers of Christ to reflect on the purpose of his birth. As God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son, it is important to recognize that the reason for the season is the sacrifice of our Heavenly Father and similarly replicate this example in our relationship with others. Christmas is thus a period to show love and practice sacrificial giving. Christianity is after all an expression of practical love for fellow man. I, therefore, urge the Christian faithful to practice the teachings of Jesus and as much as it is within their power live in peace with all.  Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has approved a Christmas bonus of N10,000 for every pensioner in the state. The Governor, who approved the bonus on Thursday, said the action was taken to assist retired workers, who served the state meritoriously, to have a good Yuletide. A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, indicated that the bonus, tagged Christmas Turkey Bonus, is coming days after the government paid December 2022 salary to the workers and pensions. The government had also approved the payment of 13th month salary, which Governor Makinde said would be paid on or before December 31 2022.
