Bassambiri Crisis: NASS Caucus Pays Solidarity Visit To Gov Diri

The Bayelsa State Caucus in the National Assembly has said it will support the State and Federal Governments in resolving the crisis in Bassambiri community in Nembe Local Government Area of the state. Chairman of the House of Representatives caucus, Hon. Fred Agbedi, stated this on Thursday when he led a delegation of the members on a solidarity visit to Governor Douye Diri in Government House, Yenagoa. Agbedi, who represents Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency, said the visit was to lend their voice to ongoing efforts to restore peace to the community and ensure that the pepertrators were brought to justice.  His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State Wednesday  attended the Service of Songs in honour of retired Bayelsa State Chief Judge, Justice Kate Abiri and described her as an epitome of peace. The service of songs was held at the Greater Evangelism World Crusade, District headquarters Church, Opolo, Yenagoa. "I call her my sister, my Lord and my adviser. She was not just a Chief Judge who swore me in as Governor of Bayelsa State, she has sworn in four of us, one in Rivers State and three of us here in Bayelsa State", he stated. Justice Abiri who died on Thursday, 3rd of August, 2023 aged 65, is Bayelsa's longest serving Chief Judge, who served between 2008 and 2023, and swore in four Governors, three from Bayelsa and one from Rivers State. Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has announced cash rewards to Olympic silver medalist, Blessing Oborududu, and other wrestlers from the state in the Nigerian contingent that participated in the 2023 Africa Wrestling Championships and the Africa Beach Games in Tunisia. Senator Diri, who congratulated the athletes for their impressive performance, said they not only made the state proud, but also the country as a whole. The Governor particularly applauded  Oborodudu, the world number two female wrestler and 13-time African champion, for her achievements. Wrestlers who won gold in the senior category in the championships got N1.5 million each, silver medalists N1 million each and N700,000 each for bronze medalists. In the junior category, Governor Diri rewarded gold medalists with N1 million each and in the senior category of the Africa Beach Games, gold medalists received N1.5 million each. Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal presided over the security council meeting, pledging his administration’s commitment to enhance and sustain the fight against banditry in the State. Governor Lawal held the security council meeting to receive briefings from all the heads of security agencies in the state. A statement by the Spokesperson to the Governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris, noted that the meeting was held on Thursday, at the Council Chambers, Government House, Gusau. Management Of Innoson Motors Hands Over Buses To Adamawa

 The management Of IVM Innoson Motors has officially handed over 10 Luxurious buses to the Adamawa State Government.  The vehicles were purchased by the State Government as part of measures to cushion the impact of fuel subsidy removal on the people. Mr. Obum Osigwe, General Manager Sales IVM Innoson Motors, presented the keys of the vehicles at the Government House, Yola on Tuesday. He said the vehicles can convey one hundred passengers at a time, adding that they are worth more than one billion naira.
