Gov Diri Constitutes Committee On NDU ASUU, HIJAC Demands

 Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has set up a special committee to look into the demands of the Association of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Niger Delta University (NDU) chapter as well as that of the Higher Institutions Joint Action Committee  (HIJAC) in the state in order to address them. Senator Diri, who inaugurated the committee on Friday in Government House, Yenagoa, when he met separately with both bodies, expressed his administration's preparedness to ensure peaceful resolution of the welfare issues affecting staff of the state-owned higher institutions. In a press release by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Daniel Alabrah, the governor was quoted as mandating members of the committee to look into their demands and submit its report within two weeks. The demands of NDU ASUU include payment of promotion arrears and salary differentials arising from step increment accumulated from October 2015 till date, unpaid study fellowship allowance and tax rebate

Obaseki commiserates with Okowa over father’s demise

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has commiserated with his Delta State counterpart, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, over the death of his father, Chief Arthur Okorie Okowa. The governor, in a statement, grieved with the government and people of Delta State over the governor’s father’s death, praying that God grants the governor, his family and well-wishers the fortitude to bear the loss. According to him, “I received the news of the passing of Chief Arthur Okorie Okowa, father of my brother, friend and Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, with a heavy heart." “The late Okpara-Uku of Owa-Alero was a revered community leader who exuded uncommon love and grace that endeared him to all. He will be greatly missed." “On behalf of the people and government of Edo State, I extend my sincere condolences to the Okowa family and pray that God grants them the fortitude to bear the loss.”

Governor Wike Condoles Governor Okowa Over Death Of Father, Majority Leader

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has sent a message of condolence to his Delta State counterpart, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa over the death of his father, Chief Arthur Okorie Uzoma Okowa. Governor Wike described the death of the patriarch of the Okowa family as a great loss to the people of Delta State. According to him, the late Chief Okowa who was an astute administrator and community leader died at a time his wise counsel would be greatly needed. Breaking: Okowa Is Dead

  The father of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, Sir Arthur Okowa, is dead. Eelder Okowa died in the early hours of Thursday, January 28, 2021. This is coming few hours after the death of Majority Leader of the the Delta State of Assembly, Mr. Tim Owhefere. The deceased who is the patriarch of the Okowa family of Owa-Alero in Agbor, died at the Federal Medical Centre Asaba, the state capital after a brief illness. He was 89 years. Pa. Arthur Okowa was born in 1932 in Owa Alero, Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State. No official State Government confirmation of the death as of press time has been issued but multiple sources from the state confirmed it.

Governor Aminu  Bello Masari of Katsina State on Wednesday commiserated with the people and government of Sokoto State over the recent inferno at the Sokoto Central Market.
