Gov Fintiri Sympathises With Sokoto Government Over Market Fire

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has  expressed sympathy with the Government and victims of the inferno that razed the Shehu Shagari Modern Market, Sokoto in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Governor Fintiri described the inferno as unfortunate and urged the victims to regard it as an act of God.

He said, "I was particularly disturbed by the news of the disaster, moreso at a time that Nigeria is confronted by the twin problems of Coronavirus pandemic and biting economic challenges".

While regretting the huge losses incurred by the traders, Governor Fintiri urged them to keep hope alive believing that they would have a comeback.

"The incident was a great loss", he said. Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri assured the Sokoto State Government, the good people of the state and victims of the inferno that "Adamawa stands by you at this trying moment as we share so much in common. I wish to express my deep sympathy to victims who lost valuables to the market inferno".

Gov. Fintiri who also described such huge loss by the traders struggling to provide for their families as disturbing, regretted that it could further break them economically.

"This disaster that has happened has touched the entire economy of Sokoto State, not just the modern market", according to Governor Fintiri.

"I urge you to continue to keep the prevailing peace in the state in spite of the hardship that they may be going through as a result of the fire."

"We will continue to stand by you and pray with you that Allah avert such happenings".
