Rivers Road Infrastructure: Wike Has Given Back To The People - Fintiri

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has described his Rivers State counterpart, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, as a special gift from God to the people.

Governor Fintiri was speaking at the commissioning of a road project in Port Harcourt on Monday.

The narrow Ezimgbu Road, dualised into 1,050m fitted with street lights, is a successful response by Governor Wike in providing a road that meets travel needs of residents.

The commissioning which coincides with the birthday of Governor Wike, Fintiri said, was a perfect birthday present to the residents of the area.

"Instead of receiving birthday gifts from the people, he has decided to celebrate by giving Rivers people a carnival of commissioning. You have turned Rivers into a model in development."

While noting that he was proud of Governor Wike as a friend and a brother, Governor Fintiri said he is honoured to be the one to commission the road project.

"Governor Wike has done creditably well, revalidating his mandate in 2019 was not done in error", he said.

He described the Rivers State Governor as one that has instituted a culture of commissioning projects in Rivers State for the people as a new normal.

"Every moment for me personally is a school I can't afford to miss. I am proud of his performance as a Governor and a leader".

Speaking on the State of the Nation, Governor Fintiri noted that "Like Wike, I strongly believe that our federalism can be strengthened better than the way it is. There are many issues that requires testing and resolution - our laws, our institutions and the structure of our relationship. Once these are tested to the satisfaction of the citizens, we shall have a better country devoid of mistrust and suspicion where citizens will see themselves as brethren of one nation."

Speaking earlier, Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike said his administration embarked on the infrastructural renewal, upgrade and rehabilitation of the roads and flyovers within the State capital and Local Government Areas across the State because of the economic importance as a real estate hub.

"The commissioning is an indication of the determination of my Government to provide good infrastructure and improve the living condition of residents.

Roads would improve interconnectivity, ease gridlock and address needs of the people".

He commended what he described as "The revolution of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in  the provision of good roads and landmark flyovers in Adamawa State. He was able to do all these with little resources at his disposal. Thus is the kind of leadership Nigeria needs".

While describing it as accountability par excellence, he criticized the delay in the completion of important projects like the Lagos- Ibadan road as disappointing and unacceptable.

Governor Wike was full of praises for the leadership qualities of Governor Fintiri which was attested to by his conduct of the best party convention in the history of democracy in Nigeria.

He said the government at the centre has succeeded in inflicting more pain on the people with broken promises and urged the people to vote them out.

Having paid over N2 billion as compensation to property owners on the new road, the Governor noted that the Ezimgbu dual carriage way that links three major roads now saves time in travel and accessibility.

The projects commissioning will continue till Christmas Eve with other governors taking turns to commission them.
