Ortom Acknowledges Synergy Between Govt, Security Agencies in Benue
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has acknowledged the cordial working relationship that has existed between the State Government and security agencies in the state.
He spoke Wednesday, October 6th, 2021 at the Benue Peoples House while receiving on separate courtesy calls, the new Assistant Inspector General of Police representing Zone 4, AIG Mustapha Dan Daura and the State Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mrs Angela Elo-Okoye.
The Governor recalled the contributions and sacrifices of security agencies in the state and pledged his administration's sustained support to security agencies in the state.
He then urged the newly deployed security heads to bring their wealth of experience to bear on the security architecture of the state.
The Governor also called on people of the state to support security agencies in the fight against crime and other forms of insecurity with intelligence gathering, stressing that security is everybody's business and not for security agents alone.
AIG Dan Daura in his remarks, lamented that the Nigeria Police Force had been neglected and greatly underfunded, pointing out that the Police operate largely due to support from State Governors.
While commending Governor Ortom for the support his administration has given to the Police and other sister security agencies in the state, the AIG pledged the Nigeria Police readiness to always support the Governor in his efforts to rid the state of criminality and other forms of insecurity.
On her part, the Benue state Comptroller of Immigration, Mrs Elo-Okoye said the visit was to familiarize herself with the Governor with a view to having a rubost working relationship.
She solicited support of the Governor in the areas of renovation of the Command headquarters in Makurdi as well as the Comptroller's residence among other logistics for effective performance.
