Death of Chief Ukpai Agwu Ukpai, PHD: I Have Lost a Friend - Ikpeazu

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has expressed extreme and profound sadness at the death of his Deputy Chief of Staff, Chief Ukpai Agwu Ukpai, PhD.

Governor Ikpeazu describes the sudden death of Chief Ukpai as perplexing having been with him throughout the build up to the House of Representatives elections held last weekend.

The Governor who described Chief Ukpai as "one of my closest personal friends and one of those whose close friendship with me predates my emergence as Governor" , stated that his death has 'robbed him of a genuine and true friend and brother".

"Chief Ukpai and I share an incredible brotherhood and friendship which bonded our two families together long before I became Governor. He always stood behind me in all my political struggles. He was unwavering and uncompromising. I feel a deep sense of personal loss at his death. I feel personally dimished".

"Beyond our personal relationship", the Governor continued, "Chief Ukpai was a solid administrator, an astute political strategist, a grassroot political generalisimo and a deeply knowledgeable man whose views and deep thoughts on governance played huge roles in the stability of my administration and our party, the PDP. Truly, Abia State has lost one of her most dedicated political leaders".

The Governor further stated that the death of Chief Ukpai is yet another reminder that life is ephemeral and its complexities way beyond human comprehension, adding that the only way forward for mortal man is to live well and make peace with his creator.

Governor Ikpeazu extends his deep personal condolences, those of his family, government and people of Abia State to the wife of the Late Chief Ukpai, his children, the people of Ohafia LGA, the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria and  the PDP Abia State Chapter.

"Chief Ukpai will surely be missed", the Governor concludes.
