National Orientation, Crucial To National Development - Ikpeazu
Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has called for adequate support for the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to form the fulcrum that would drive government policies and programs in Nigeria.
The Governor made the call when he received in audience, the Abia State Director of the National Orientation Agency, Dr. Ngozi Okechukwu and her Management Team to Government House, Umuahia. He stressed the need for government at all levels to begin to mainstream the importance of national orientation in the people's daily living.
Governor Ikpeazu was of the view that we need to galvanize the requisite support required to drive government policies, noting that despite various micro and macro policy interventions by the government, the citizenry were not even aware and thus, unappreciative of such policies due to lack of national orientation.
Earlier, the State Director of the National Orientation Agency, Abia State, Dr. Ngozi Okechukwu disclosed that the agency is set to reposition the War Against Indiscipline (WAI) in the State. The Director, who said that one of the aims of their visit was to decorate the Governor as the Grand Patron of National Orientation Agency in the State revealed that the revamping of the War Against Indiscipline (WAI) Brigade aims to support the fight against indiscipline and corruption.
She noted that the ills which bedeviled the nation during the Buhari /Idiagbo Military era are even worsening, adding that repositioning of the War Against Indiscipline Brigade will revamp vigilance in the LGAs and boost security. She commended the Governor for the great insight about the need to empower youths, noting that youths' inclusiveness in government is imperative.
Highlights of the event was decoration of the Governor as the Grand Patron of National Orientation Agency in the State.
Secretary to Government, Barrister Chris Ezem, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr ACB Agbazuere and other top officials of the State Government were present at the event which held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House Umuahia.
