Ikpeazu condoles with the people of Oyo State on the death of the Alaafin
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has sent a message of Condolence to Governor Seyi Makinde and the entire people of Oyo State on the death of renowned Royal Father and Alaafin of Oyo, His Royal Majesty, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi. He was aged 83 years.
Governor Ikpeazu described the Late Monarch as one of the longest serving first traditional rulers in Nigeria who spent 52 years on the throne and who was synonymous with the core values of the Yoruba tradition.
"The Late Oba was a man of peace and believed in having harmonious relationships with other Royal Fathers from other parts of the country. His death has therefore thrown the entire Oyo Kingdom, the people of Oyo State and indeed, the entire traditional institution in the country into mourning".
The Governor noted that the Late Oba lived a full and long life, and urged the Governor and the good people of Oyo State to be thankful to God and be proud of the strong legacies left by the Late Alaafin.
Governor Ikpeazu, on behalf of the Government and People of Abia State, sends his deepest condolences to the Government and People of Oyo State with prayers for the repose of the soul of the Late Oba.
