Justify Our Investment in your Education; Ikpeazu Charges Overseas Scholarship Recipients
Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has charged India Scholarship beneficiaries from the State to be focused in their studies and uphold good manners in their academic pursuit so as to justify the State's investment in their education.
Governor Ikpeazu made the call at the Governor's Lodge Aba when he received the Executive Secretary and members of Abia State Scholarship Board along with beneficiaries of the scheme who are scheduled to depart the country for India on the 9th of October.
Ikpeazu emphasized that the decision to secure overseas scholarship for our youths is driven by his administration's understanding that capacity building is key and a great vision that is transgenerational .
According to him, "despite not being economically convenient in the short run, this is an investment will pay greatly in the long run".
He said that India was chosen because of their world academic outlook and record, being technology and health experts, so he expects a healthy competitive academic environment for the students. He asked them to throw away frivolities that will not support their education and promised that the Scholarship Board will be in touch with them through the Nigeria Embassy in India as well as Indian Embassy in Nigeria.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation and Executive Secretary of the Abia State Scholarship Board, Mr Chukwuka Daniel said that they came to appreciate the Governor and inform him of their readiness to send out the India Scholarship beneficiaries as well as seek his blessings for the beneficiaries.Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Miss Okezie Esther thanked the Governor for the opportunity given to them and promised to make Abia and Nigeria proud.
The Governor prayed for the beneficiaries and wished them safe travels to India.
Professor Agu Samuel and other members of the Scholarship Board were part of the delegation while the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Prof-acb Agbazuere was part of the event.
