Governor Samuel Ortom has acknowledged the support of the outgoing members of the Benue State House of Assembly to the success of his administration and pledged collaboration with Members-elect for a better Benue.

He spoke yesternight at a banquet he organised for outgoing and incoming Assembly members held at the New Banquet Hall of the Benue Peoples House Makurdi.

The Governor noted that most members of the Assembly stood firm with him to add value to the development of the state, stressing that they were passionate and patriotic in defence of their fatherland especially when the enemy tried fruitlessly to overrun and take over the state.

While congratulating the Members-elect on their victories, the Governor charged them to dialogue and elect a leadership that would pilot the affairs of the 9th Assembly effectively without rancour, stressing that his administration would continue to respect the separation of powers among the three arms of government just like in the previous years.

The Governor stated that he had resolved never to look back but focus on the execution of God's plan for Benue in the next four years, saying his coming on board was divine as revealed to him several years before he became Governor.

Speaker of the State Assembly, Mr. Titus Uba said members of the 8th Assembly were only stepping aside to allow others wear their shoes, saying their wealth of experience would still be tapped by the 9th Assembly.

He stated that said the 8th Assembly had come to join the Governor welcome members elect of the 9th Assembly soon to be inaugurated and pledged a robust working relationship between the legislature and the executive.

The Speaker acknowledged the insatiable quest of Governor Ortom for God's hand in the affairs of the state and pledged the support of the Assembly to the actualization of his dreams for the state.
The cultural troup of the Benue State Arts and Culture entertained guests during the Banquet.
