Bauchi discovers skill acquisition materials abandoned 38 years ago

Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has discovered skills acquisition materials abandoned since the administration of the first civilian governor of the state Alhaji AbubakarTatari Ali, 38 years ago. Late Tatari ruled the state between 1979 and 1983 after which nine military and three civilian governors ruled the state before the coming of the present administration.
The Commissioner, Ministry of Poverty Alleviation Alhaji Usman Mohammed Saleh disclosed this while speaking with newsmen yesterday in Bauchi.
Usman said the equipment, if put into use, would create job opportunities to hundreds of unemployed youths. He said the equipment were found to be in good condition and government intended to build a skill acquisition center in each of the emirates to put them into use.
He said government has earmarked N1 billion in the 2020 budget to address the problem of unemployment, especially amongst youths and women. Usman said N200 million will be given to the Association of Motorcycles and Tricycles Riders to purchase motorcycles and tricycles and distribute to its members on loan. Another N60 million would be given to those running cash wash and vulcanisers to buy modern equipment.
