PDP Governors' Forum Consoles Governor Diri over Father's Demise

The Peoples Democratic Party Governors' Forum (PDPGF) under the leadership of H. E. Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, CFR - (Governor of Sokoto State) commiserates with Senator Douye Diri - Governor of Bayelsa State over the death of his father, Lay Reader Pa Abraham Michael Joseph Diri.

2. Pa Diri, a retired Headmaster, a devout Christian and a man of exemplary humility, departed on Sunday, February 12 at the age of 88 years.

3. It is saddening and a painful loss, not only to Gov. Diri and the Great Diri Family of Kalama-Owei Wari in Sampou Community of Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, but also to the people of Bayelsa and  Nigeria.

4. The Forum grieves over the death of this great personality,  particularly at this time Bayelsa state and indeed the nation at large, need his prayers, intercessions and wise counsel the most.

5. Pa Diri was a rare gem; an exceptionally resourceful, upright, straightforward and patriotic Nigerian, who sacrificially committed his life towards the good, welfare and development of others rather than himself.

6. Though we deeply mourn at this point, the forum draws solace from the fact that his amiable and highly revered father and Patriarch of the Diri Dynasty lived a fulfilled life and bequeathed to our nation, a patriot in Governor Diri.

7. Indeed, Governor Diri's exceptional commitment to duty, forthrightness in governance, love for his people and Nigerians at large, all stem from the tutelage and nurturing he received from his father.

8. We deeply identify with Governor Diri and the Diri family at this moment of grief; and we also commiserate with the government and people of Bayelsa state and pray God to grant them, the family and friends of the bereaved, the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss, particularly given that he rests on in the bosom of his Lord and creator.

Hon. C.I.D. Maduabum, LL.M

Director-General,

PDP Governors Forum
