"Save our Democracy" - Fmr NGF Boss, Onaiwu tells Nigerian Governors

By Pat PA Okon

A clarion call to save Nigeria's nascent democracy has been made to the 36 Governors.

The call came from Earl Osaro Onaiwu, a former DG of the Nigeria Governors Forum, and one-time Edo State Gubernatorial candidate.

Onaiwu who made the call Monday during an interactive session with journalists in Abuja said with the recent development across the country vis-a-viz last week's siege laid on the National Assembly by security operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS); intimidation and harassments of the members of the opposition parties; threats and attempts of unconditional impeachment moves against the leadership of the National Assembly to mention but a few; if these are allowed to go on  unchecked, our collective efforts in building and stabilizing democratic structures will be eroded.

Onaiwu, an immediate past DG of the PDP Governors Forum also said if the governors fail to collectively and in one voice speak against these evolving abnormalities, they would be toying with the future of the country and generations yet unborn.
