The Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Entertainment Industry, Mr David Sergeant (Utang Akwa Ibom) has stated that it is important to celebrate the 31st Anniversary of Akwa Ibom State in Grand Style.
He made this known in Uyo Tuesday after a closed-door meeting with entertainment stakeholders, members of his working committee and his colleagues in the college of Governor's aides.
Utang Akwa Ibom, a balladist and governor's aide, announced that plans are in the kitty to unveil event activities to mark the 31st Anniversary of the creation of Akwa Ibom State.

His words ' you can recall that when His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel took over in May 2015, the first anniversary celebration was spectacular, with the launch of the Dakkada campaign, the tempo had been raised since then and maintained with Orange September last year, this year, we intend to do something uniquely different though with fanfare, but more direct impact on the people'. he said.

On plans for the anniversary, he made it clear that his office though limited, will collaborate with the Anniversary Central Planning Committee, to ensure that the anniversary of the state is memorable, especially as it marks four years of Governor Udom Emmanuel's administration.
Speaking further, Utang said it is necessary to return all glory to God for coming thus far as a state at 31 and blessed with 31 Local Government Areas, hence the need to roll out the drums with theme for the celebration being 'Only God'.

According to him; what makes us unique in Nigeria is being the only state named after God, now blessed with a God fearing leader.
'If I may ask, who is the source of our unique delicacies ? #OnlyGod , Who has kept us united despite ethnic and political differences ? #OnlyGod , Who is the source of Akwa Ibom state's natural resources ? #OnlyGod , so at a time like this, as a people, it is important for us to reverence God', he concluded.

He said details of a well planned celebration will be announced at a later date. He also hinted that his office is putting finishing touches to a publication that will feed the general public with information on efforts and achievements towards building an income earning industry for practitioners, which will in the long run increase the Internally Generated Revenue of the state as a whole.
