Bayelsa PDP Primary: " You are biased; resign as the state chairman of the party - Youths hit Cleopas Moses

The Chairman of Bayelsa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Cleopas Moses, was yesterday warned to steer clear and remain neutral as the party conducts the governorship primary on Tuesday.

The PDP Youths Vanguard, in a statement by its National Chairman, James Efe Akpofure, said that it is not the business of the state chairman to interfere in the state primary, but should remain neutral.

The PDP youths said its attention was drawn to the statement credited to the state Chairman, who is supposed to play a fatherly role in the primary scheduled for Tuesday, that fake alerts were being sent to some delegates.

In the said statement, Moses was quoted as saying that the one million naira fake alert is a desperate move by two of the aspirants, Timi Alaibe and Kenebi Okoko to hoodwink the delegates to vote for them.

According to him, some of the delegates have started receiving the fake alerts with a promise that they can access the money by Wednesday this week after the fate of Alaibe and Okoko would have been decided by them.

The PDP chairman had described the action as a political fraud, noting that it is the height of desperation and called on anti-graft agencies to investigate the issue and make those behind it to face the long-arm of the law.

The PDP Vanguard said: "This statement is unfortunate and a far cry from somebody who describes himself as the Chairman of Bayelsa State Chapter of the party.

"From the tone of the statement, it shows that the Chairman is already biased and his loyalty is not for the party but certain interests.

"If he does not want to play a fatherly role by allowing all the aspirants to go into the field, he should as well resign as the state chairman of the party.

"He even went as far as naming innocent people just to rubbish them before the primary. He should know that members of the party both at the state and at the national levels are watching him closely.

"He should not be a willing tool in the hands of PDP enemies to destroy our party in Bayelsa. He should do the honourable thing and apologize to the aspirants whose names he mentioned in his statement and he should also know that Bayelsa people know his plan, which has already failed.

"We want the best candidate to emerge; we don't want any rubber stamp and we don't want imposition. The state chairman should desist from his failed plan, because it won't work. All the aspirants should go into the field, so that the best will be picked among the 21 persons seeking for the ticket.
