Fintiri escapes death as gunmen invade venue of PDP governorship primary in Kogi

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, has escaped being killed by gunmen who invaded the venue of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election in Kogi State.

Fintiri is the Chairman of the Election Committee.

The governorship primaries for the November 16 election in Kogi State ended abruptly in the early hours of Wednesday,  as gunmen invaded the venue of the election at the Lokoja Confluence Stadium.

Voting had ended and sorting of votes were going on when the gunmen came to the venue at about 1:45a.m. and started shooting from different directions.

According to report, votes in eight out of the 10 ballot boxes had already been counted and sorted out before the disruption by the gunmen.

It was gathered that aspirants, delegates and others scampered for safety while the number of casualty was yet to be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.

No official statement has cone from the party on the next line of action as of the press time, but it was gathered that the personnel of the various security agencies on ground, have brought the situation under control.
