The Bayelsa State Unemployed Graduates Forum has commended Governor Seriake Dickson for directing the employment of 1,000 Bayelsans into the state civil service.

The governor made the pronouncement recently at a live media chat in Yenagoa, and on Tuesday, the process for the commencement of the employment began in Yenagoa.

At the media chat, the governor was quoted to have said the move became imperative following the success recorded so far in the ongoing public service reforms.

The governor was also quoted to have said the 1,000 employment is the first in a series, as his government move towards injecting more young people in the state public service.

Reacting to the development, the leadership of the Unemployed Graduates Forum in the state says the pronouncement was in fulfilment of a promise made by the Governor.

President of the Forum, Comrade Eddy Soko described the governor’s decision as not only timely, but a deliberate step to address the high rate of unemployment in Bayelsa State.

Speaking to journalists in Ekeremor main town, headquarters of Ekermor local government area on the sidelines of the ongoing town hall meeting on the public service reforms, Comrade Soko said the youths of the state will ever remain grateful to Dickson.

He noted that the Governor has strengthened their faith in his government because of his disposition to always fulfil his promises which reaffirms his name as the ‘Talk Na Do Governor’.

Eddy Soko, however, appealed to Dickson to ensure that the process is fast as doing so will not only change the fortunes of potential beneficiaries but will also add value to their communities and make the Bayelsa State Civil Service productive, efficient and effective.

He also called on qualified Bayelsans to take due advantage of the opportunity, saying they have gotten assurances that the process of the employment would be transparent and fair.

The President of the Bayelsa Unemployed Graduates Forum equally pledged the unflinching support of the group to the Governor in his bid to clean the mess in the public service and charged all well-meaning Bayelsans to support the Dickson led restoration administration to fully implement the reforms agenda.

“It is a welcome development and we are very grateful to His Excellency for his magnanimity. It has made us believe in him more as the ‘Talk Na Do Governor”. Once again we promise to stand by His administration to achieve fully the public service reforms,” he said.
