Excitement in Bayelsa State as Football War Finally Enters Last Hour- N11m Prize Money Up For Grabs

- Ekeremoh, Nembe LGAs in Hot Contest                                                   
- Sagbama, Ogbia hustle for 3rd Place

All is now set for the finals of the  2018 edition of the Governor Seriake Dickson Football Tournament christened “The Restoration Cup”.   


The competition which kicked off on Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex, Yenagoa, saw several teams from about 150 different communities of the 8 LGAs and all the tertiary institutions in the state in hot contest to make the group of 4.

Several weeks of a strenuous encounter saw the emergence of Teams Peretorugbene (Ekeremoh LGA) and Opu Nembe (Nembe LGA) as the finalists; while Teams Toru-Orua (Sagbama LGA) and Otuasega (Ogbia LGA) will slug it out for the third place.                                                       

In a press release weeks back, the tournament organizers had explained that the winners will get N5 million, the first runner up N3 million while the third best team will smile home with N2 million; with N1 million spread across special categories of best winners.



The Director of the Organizing Committer, Mr. Ono Akpe, in an earlier statement, had equally  stated that 'the aim of this year’s competition is to foster harmony, unity and peaceful co-existence between and among communities in the state through football'.
                                                       
Today's final matches which are scheduled for 1pm at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex, Yenagoa, will have the Executive Governor of the State, Hon. Seriake Dickson, who is also the Chief Host, performing the kick-off.   



                                                                                                                                                                 

The event will have in attendance, Mr. Monday Sinclair, the former coach of the Super Eagles as the  Special Guest of Honour.                                     

Other guests expected to grace the grand finale of the tournament are political appointees, chairman and officials of the Bayelsa Football Association, Bayelsa Referees Association, sports writers, football coaches, ex-footballers, captains of all registered communities, football stakeholders and the general public.
