Why I sacked local govt chairmen - Gov. Seyi Makinde

By Tony Okechukwu

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Friday explained the main reason he dissolved the local government chairmen and Councillors in the 33 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 35 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.

Makinde, while noting that the council chairmen who were asked to vacate their offices with immediate effect are expected to challenge his decision in the court of law, maintained that they were dissolved because the local government election that was conducted by the immediate past Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, was against a subsisting court order.
