FAAC DEADLOCK: Bayelsa Govt Shocks Nigerians, Pays Workers June Salary

By Pat PA Okon

Nigerians Thursday morning woke up to a surprise good news that the Bayelsa State Government a day earlier had commenced payment of June salary to civil servants in the state, despite the lingering deadlock in FAAC, resulting from unacceptable figures presented by the NNPC at the June FAAC meeting.

The government in a press statement signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Maxwell Ibibai said, following the stalemate in FAAC, Governor Henry Seriake Dickson directed the immediate sourcing of funds to address the salary concerns of civil servants.

The Commissioner said government is sensitive to the plight of workers and will do all it could at all times to make workers happy. While stressing that government holds workers in the state in high esteem, he said Governor Dickson always gives priority to their welfare. He also enjoined workers to be dedicated to duty.
