Gov. Matawalle Restates Commitment To Provide Quality Female Education

Zamfara State Governor, Hon. Bello Mohammed (Matawallen Maradun), has restated his administration's commitment to provide quality education for children, especially, girls in the state. 

The governor stated this at the Government House Mini Chamber, Gusau, while hosting High Level Women Advocates (HILWA) to a courtesy call. 

Governor Matawalle said education of children is among the top priorities of his administration especially the enrollment of out-of-school children and equip them with sound and quality education at all levels. 

He noted that provision of quality female education is  of greater value and benefit considering the roles they play in developing the society. 

Matawalle further said that educating a woman is just like educating the entire society, promising to create more enabling environment for women in the state to have access to quality education through the involvement of education-based non governmental organisations.

He stressed that his administration will continue to welcome development partners that will advocate for more participation of women in education and the enrollment of girls in schools in the state.

Governor Matawalle then donated an 18-seater bus to the organisation and urged the members to continue with their crusade of mentoring women and girls in the education sector. 

Earlier in her address, the State Chairperson of the organisation, Hajiya Maryam Muhammad Na'Inna, said they were at the Government House to express their support to the present administration's efforts of  transforming the state education sector to world standard, especially on the girl enrollment drive, which her organisation has always advocated.

The HILWA leader further said that her organisation's aims and objectives is to promote increased access to quality education for children, especially girls, through increased participation of women in education among others, noting that "this is happily one of the present administration's top priorities'.

Maryam Na'Inna  however informed the governor that her organisation in  collaboration with  UNICEF and  Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board trained over 20,000 mothers' association on basic skills on the campaign for enrollment of children in schools which has yielded positive results

She also appealled to the governor to facilitate the passage of the two bills that are before the State House of Assembly for the prohibition of girls' hawking, especially during school hours, and the bill seeking for thirty percent inclusion of women in education decision making for the purpose of promoting the women folks in the state. 

The visit was attended by Ambassador Bashir Yuguda Gusau, Honorary Adviser to the Governor, Secretary to Zamfara State Government, Alhaji Bala Bello Maru, Chief of Staff Government House, Col. Bala Mande rtd, Head of Service, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe, Deputy Chief of Staff, Dr. Bashir Mohammed Maru, Commissioners, Special Advisers, Permanent Secretary - Office of the Executive Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Jaafar Maradun and the Principal Private Secretary, Alhaji Lawali Umar, among others.
