Guber Polls: Tambuwal Says SOSG’ll Ensure Free, Fair Election

 Gov. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State has assured the people of the state that his administration will do all in its power to make Saturday’s poll hitch free in all parts of the state.

Gov. Tambuwal made this known today when he visited the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar in his palace. Among the Governor’s entourage were one of his predecessors, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, his deputy Manir Muhammad Daniya, PDP Gubernatorial candidate Malam Saidu Umar Ubandoma and his running mate Sagir Attahiru Bafarawa, among others.

According to the Governor, his administration will ensure that people come out peacefully in order to exercise their franchise by voting for candidates of their choice without any problem as the campaign ends today.

Stating that leadership is from Allah, and He gives it to whoever he wants, the Governor said on the part of his administration all would be done not to allow the election to be marred by violence and irregularities.

Tambuwal told the monarch that the main reason for their visit is in order to seek his royal blessing for a hitch free election.

He said it is a tradition at this moment to come and seek prayer and advice from the monarch on ways and manner to conduct peaceful elections.

In his address, Sultan Saad Abubakar said politics is about expressing interest without enmity, admonishing people of the state to understand that there is life after election, as the existing relationship between people will continue.

According to him, it is the duty of the traditional rulers to pray for Allah to choose good leaders who will move the state and country forward, just as he also urged politicians to play politics with decorum and respect for each other.

He assured that the prayer his Sultanate will offer will not only be restricted to the state but extended nationwide as the national peace committee, of which he is the alternate chairman always sue for peace and unity in the country.

He prayed that as the campaign ends they pray to Allah to choose the best leaders for every sector of the country. In the same vein, he appealed to the citizens of the country to have fear of Allah in their minds, noting that this  will assist them in electing credible leadership.

While thanking the State Government in its effort towards sustaining peace and unity in the state, he also called on it to allow people to vote for their choice without any intimidation.

The Sultan said as the Ramadan approaches there is need for people to pray fervently for peace and unity in the state and country at large.
