PDP Delta thankful to God for victory, uncomfortable losing four LGAs to APC - Okowa's EAC

...Says Governor-elect Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori 'll fulfil electioneering campaign promises

Executive Assistant on Communications to Delta State Governor, Olorogun Barr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has said that the leadership and members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, are very happy over the governorship election victory, but uncomfortable losing four out of twenty five Local Government Areas to opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, on March 18.

Oghenesivbe made the disclosure at Trend FM and Bridge FM public affairs radio programmes monitored in Asaba on Wednesday, saying that the opposition APC, does not deserve to win one Local Government Area on the grounds that Federal Government presence was not felt in the state since 2015 till date under the failed APC national government in terms of projects and delivery of dividends of democracy.

He noted that the results of the election in favour of PDP further confirmed that the numerous lies and media propaganda sponsored by APC propagandists against the enviable scorecard of Governor Ifeanyi A. Okowa, could not sway voters as expected by political detractors.

Oghenesivbe pointed out that Okowa's laudable achievements in infrastructure and socioeconomic development are in public domain, and voters had to align themselves with the tremendous progress made by the party in the state since 1999, and do not have any good reason to vote out PDP.

The Eacgov assured that the Governor-elect, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, will fulfil all  electioneering campaign promises as encapsulated in the M.O.R.E manifesto, anchored on prudent management of state resources, open door policy, transparency, accountability and equitable distribution of dividends of democracy across the three senatorial districts in the state.

On election violence, voters intimidation and vote buying, Oghenesivbe noted that there were reported cases in Ughelli North and Ethiope West Local Government Areas, wherein two people lost their lives in Mosogar while some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, were allegedly held hostage by APC chieftains in Orogun town.

Oghenesivbe called on Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Ali, to investigate these allegations, apprehend and charge the culprits to court, adding that nobody is above the law.

"Delta PDP family is thankful to God for the landslide victory by winning twenty one Local Government Areas out of twenty five LGAs. It was a well deserved victory for our great party, PDP, and candidates Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, Sir Monday Onyeme and House of Assembly members-elect."

"However, we are not happy that Delta APC won in four Local Governments because the APC national government under President Muhmmadu Buhari, deliberately, willfully and intentionally neglected Delta State in terms of projects and dividends of democracy."

"That APC grabbed four LGAs in the just concluded election is unbelievable, shocking and suspicious. Neither Senator Ovie Omo-Agege's negative personality and lack of visionary leadership could translate to clinching four LGAs, nor the weak political structure and endless internal squabbles within APC could have done the magic. Obviously, APC unscrupulously got four LGAs and we are going to look into the matter."

"Votes are usually tied to performance or foreseeable performance, not tied to non performance and negative personality traits. Delta APC ought not to win one LGA in the just concluded Governorship and House of Assembly elections in the state."

"We are not comfortable with the development. Our projection was to win the entire twenty five LGAs. However, we give God the glory for sweeping twenty one Local Government Areas and it's marvelous in our eyes."

"Delta PDP family appreciates the huge support of Deltans which translated to PDP's landslide victory on March 18."

"The Governor-elect and incoming party leader, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, has invited those who contested with him within and outside the PDP, to come on board and join hands with him to move the state forward."

"PDP won the governorship election based on two major factors; Governor Okowa's good governance strides and the Governor-elect's enviable track record as the longest serving Speaker of the State House of Assembly."

"Furthermore, PDP victory in Delta State was by God's amazing grace, the power of divine light over darkness, as well as Oborevwori's uncommon humility, selfless service to the people, popularity, street credibility, competence, excessive local content as a grassroots politician, his integrity and visionary leadership," Oghenesivbe said.
