Gov Kefas Attends Nigeria Army Day Celebration Interdenominational Service
The Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, was among the dignitaries who attended the Nigerian Army Day Celebration interdenominational church service in Jalingo, the state capital.
The Service was held at the Salvation Baptist Church Magami, in Jalingo.
Speaking at the service, Dr. Agbu Kefas described the Army as an institution with a long and proud history of service and sacrifice.
He emphasised that commemorating the day is not only to honour officers who are alive but to pay tribute to the fallen heroes who paid the supreme price to defend the nation.
Governor Kefas pointed out that as soldiers, their loyalty to God is not only imperative but also guides their actions in any circumstances and helps them remain steadfast in their duty
According to him, the loyalty of a soldier is the strength of the Nigerian Army.
He therefore urged the army and all Nigerians to remain loyal to God, as it is the foundation of strength, hope, and resilience.
In a sermon title, The Loyalty of a Soldier as a Catalyst to Spiritual Transformation, Maj. Reverend S. Samaila, who described loyalty as one's devotion to a country, philosophy, group, or person, explained that it is a major catalyst for spiritual transformation.
Taking his scriptural reading from 2 Samuel 23:13 and citing an example with the story of David, who demonstrated loyalty, the clergy pointed out that loyalty must be earned and not demanded.
According to him, without loyalty, sycophancy will be the order of the day, and positive change will be lacking.
He called on soldiers, officers, and men alike to be loyal and remain focused in discharging their duty to drive transformation in the army and the country at large.
In their separate goodwill messages, the host Pastor, Rev Isaac Sankun, and the President of MBCN, Rev Job Dadua, commended the Nigerian Army for its dedication to peace and stability and appreciated Gov Agbu Kefas for his Commitment to support the security agencies in the state.
