Oyo: Gov. Makinde Boosts State Security Framework, Sets Committee
Gov. Seyi Makinde, Friday, inaugurated the Oyo State Community Policing Advisory Committee.
The initiative was set up by the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu in order to guarantee a strengthened internal security roadmap that can aid the conventional policing strategy.
The governor in his address made it known that security is one of the major pillars in the road map to accelerated development of the current administration.
He reiterated the commitment of his administration on security so as to bring development to the state.
The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, NPM, mni, who was represented by the supervising Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the South West geo-political zone, Adeleye O. Oyebade, in his address made it known that community policing as a model rests on the philosophy and principles of public partnership, intelligence gathering and inter-agency collaboration.
He charged the inaugurated committee not to betray the confidence reposed on them while commending Gov. Seyi Makinde for his immense contributions to security in Oyo State.
The Oyo State Community Policing Advisory Committee comprises representatives of the State Commissioner of Police, traditional rulers, Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), People Living With Disabilities, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), National Youth Council of Nigeria, etc.
The committee will be chaired by His Imperial Majesty, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi.
Also, in attendance were the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Job Nwachuku Enwonwu; His Imperial Majesty, Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji; The representative of the Soun of Ogbomosho and other monarchs across the state.
