Edo people have decided on continuity, Obaseki’s re-election – Group

A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), ‘We Have Decided’ has thrown its weight behind Governor Godwin Obaseki's re-election bid, noting that Edo people have decided on consolidating on the gains made by the government.

Leader of the group, Mr. Godbless Otubure, who spoke to journalists during a roadshow in Benin City, said their support for the governor is driven by a commitment to good governance and a resolve to ensure that intellectuals take the front seat in governance.

According to him, “True change happens when the government leads from the front. We can testify to the fact that the governor has positioned the state on a growth trajectory. We will not sit and watch the progress made in the last three years and eight months go away.

“We have decided to come here because we were born in this state and we schooled here. Edo State is our home. We are here to support the Governor to ensure he is re-elected so that he can continue to work for the people of Edo State.
The group is made up of former Student Union Government (SUG) leaders across the state, with over 2,000 members across the 18 Local Government Areas (LGA) and 192 wards.

The Director of Mobilisation, ‘We Have Decided,’ Pharm. Johnson Erayenmen, said Edo people have decided to move forward, adding that the September 19 election will be a day to defend the dignity of Edo people.

He added, “We were not mobilised to be here. We decided on our own to be part of this journey with Governor Obaseki. The governor represents a new way of doing things in Edo State and that is why we are supporting him.”
