BAUCHI INDIGENES IN UK DONATE MEDICAL CONSUMABLES TO STATE GOVT
The Association of Bauchi state indigenes in the United Kingdom has donated 256 different categories of hospital equipments and medical consumables worth millions of naira to the state government for onward distribution to General Hospitals across the state.
Receiving the equipments at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Bauchi, Governor Bala Mohammed said the gesture will go along way in assisting the state government to ensure improvement in the healthcare delivery.
He reiterated the commitment of his administration to summon a health summit so as to tackle the gaps and leakages in an effort to ensure better performance in the area of health.
The governor tasked citizens of the state irrespective of their religious or political differences to contribute positively to the growth and development of the state.
"We wish to acknowledge with thanks the delivery of these items from our sons and daughters in the United Kingdom who earlier pledged to support my administration with medical consumables, we are grateful on behalf of the government and people of Bauchi state for this solidarity to the good people of Bauchi state."
"You have shown that you are good ambassadors of Bauchi state, these professionals have identified with us in our Bauchi project."
Governor Bala Mohammed therefore directed the Secretary to the State Government alongside the Commissioner for Health to ensure credible distribution and use of the equipments.
"The SSG is hereby directed to chair a committee with all the Chief Medical Directors of General Hospitals in the state to discuss and distribute the items equitably."
The Special Adviser on Multilateral Organisations, Professor Sani Malami, presented the equipments to Governor Bala Mohammed on behalf of the association.
Professor Sani Malami said members of the association have agreed to support the state government in improving the healthcare services to the citizens.
"Your Excellency, because of the restriction of movement in line with COVID-19 protocols, the association led by Dr. Dahiru Garkuwa asked me to present the items to you on their behalf."
