Edo 2020: Group calls for investigation, prosecution of Captain Hosa Okunbo over provocative, seditious publication

President of the Midwest Progressives Forum (MPF) Worldwide, Andrew Adaze Enwanta Esq. has called for investigation into the law-threatening, seditious and provocative activities of Benin billionaire and Chairman of Ocean Marine Solutions Limited (OMSL), Capt. Hosa Wells Okunbo and his political allies.

In a statement, Emwanta noted that the activities of Hosa Okunbo and his 'political dogs' constitute a clear and present danger to the peace, law and order of Edo State, the Niger Delta region and the entire Nigeria.

The group further called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu to launch a full scale investigation into the seditious and provocative activities of Okunbor, which are already stirring crisis in the state, adding: "He is not above the law."

According to him, "On Monday the 20th day of July 2020, Edo people both at home and in the diaspora were placed under serious anxiety when they read a long open letter written by one Mr. Idahosa Okunbor (a.k.a Captain Hosa), wherein he made several seditious statements against the person and office of the Governor of Edo State. In one of the lines, he falsely alleged; without given specific particulars as to witness (es), time and place, that the incumbent Governor of Edo State, told him that 'politicians are rogues.'

"This particular statement has led to several security threats within Edo State, not limited to the following: A follow-up meeting of a proscribed group called Edo Peoples Movement (EPM), hiding under the guise of a political rally, wherein one Mr. Tony Adun (a.k.a Kabaka), proclaimed members of the group to be the 'lions and tigers' in the process leading to the Edo gubernatorial election slated for the 19th of September, 2020. This particular fellow had earlier on called a press conference on behalf of his principal, Mr. Idahosa Okunbor, threatening fire and brimstone.

"That within 24 hours after the above meeting, the residence of Barr. Damian Lawani, an aide to the Governor and legal adviser of the Midwest Progressives Forum, located in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State was viciously attacked by persons suspected to be political thugs."

Emwanta continued: "It is on the basis of the foregoing, that we are now calling on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR to direct the Inspector General of Police to launch a full scale investigation into the law- threatening, seditious and provocative activities of Mr. Idahosa Okunbor (a.k.a Captain Hosa) and his political allies.

"We also call on the Hon. Attorney General of Edo State to jump-start the process of bringing Mr. Idahosa Okunbor (a.k.a Captain Hosa) to justice, for his present unlawful and seditious acts against the Governor and Government of Edo State.

"The aforesaid seditious publications were well thought-out, concocted, published and circulated widely, in order to overawe the Governor of Edo State, and thereby incite the political and other classes of the society against him. These criminal acts of Mr. Idahosa Okunbor constitute a clear and present danger to the peace, law and order of Edo State, the Niger Delta region and indeed Nigeria. A stitch in time saves nine!"

Governor Mutfwang Receives Nigerian First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu's Generous Donation Of 500 Million Naira To Plateau Crisis Victims
