Heed Sultan’s Advice, Play Politics Decently, Tambuwal Urges Politicians

Politicians in the country have been advised to abide by the Sultan's advise to avoid bitterness and play politics with decorum.

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state made the call when he received the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar and district heads under the Sokoto Sultanate Council when they paid him traditional Sallah homage at Government House, Sokoto on Tuesday.

Observing that the monarch’s advise came at the right time as the nation is approaching a general election period, Tambuwal also appreciated  the effort of the Sultan, traditional rulers and Ulamas in the state for their meaningful advise towards the piloting of his administration.

He informed the Sultan that the state government is giving adequate support and cooperation to all the security agencies operating in the state so as to ensure that there is an improvement in the insecurity situation in the state.

He applauded the security personnel for their cooperation with the state government in tackling the recent upsurge of criminal activities

in Illela, Tangaza, Dange-Shuni and Tureta local government areas of the state.

Governor Tambuwal also explained that the state government, in furtherance of its human development objective, has paid April salary to all civil servants to enable them celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, stressing that, also, in face of the financial distress across the country, the government equally extended several assistance to indigent citizens across the  state during the month of Ramadan.

While appreciating the support of the Sultanate Council in uniting the Muslim ummah and preaching of peace and unity in the country, the governor expressed hope that the tempo will be sustained.

In his remarks, Sultan Abubakar who reiterated his appeal for propriety in the conduct of politicians, noted that as the nation approaches the general elections period, they should have faith that it is only Allah that gives power to whoever He wishes.

He said they were at the Government House to pay traditional Sallah homage to the governor who he commended for all the support and cooperation given to the security agencies in the state in protecting lives and properties of the people.

He also applauded the governor for the various developmental projects being executed across the state, just as he appreciated the unflinching support the administration has been giving to the Sultanate Council.
