Governor Fintiri Signs Law to Ensure Sufficient Water Supply

To ensure that the state has a sufficient supply of water, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri signed a policy on Thursday that addressed harmonized water resources and water sanitation and hygiene (WASH).

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and other development partners worked with the State Ministry of Water Resources to create the policy.

Speaking before approving the policy in his office, Governor Umaru Fintiri noted that improving the state's economic health and human well-being are two of his administration's main concerns, and water is a vital component of both.

He clarified that his administration had made significant progress in the water sector and added that the strategy would encourage government investment in the area, creating opportunities for increased internal revenue collection (IGR).

Governor Umaru Fintiri promises that the State Government will carefully follow the water policy's requirements, and he thanks the development partners for making the policy a reality.

Earlier, Malam Ayuba Audu, the Commissioner of Water Resources, expressed gratitude to the development partners for their tireless efforts in assisting the ministry in bringing that policy to fruition.

Delta awards N78bn contract for flyovers in Warri, Effurun

Delta State Government has approved the award of contracts worth N78 billion to Julius Berger Nigeria Limited for the construction of three flyover bridges and road expansion in the Warri/Effurun megalopolis. This was part of decisions reached at the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Tuesday in Asaba.  Briefing journalists at the end of the Exco meeting, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Engr Fred Edafiogho, said approval of the contracts were aimed at solving the gridlock often experienced in the twin cities.
