ITF Awards Bayelsa Govt. For Commitment To Human Resource Development

The Industrial Training Fund, (ITF) Yenagoa Area Office has awarded the Bayelsa State Government as the best in human resource development.

The award was presented on Thursday, December 7, 2023 during a One-Day Interactive Forum for Stakeholders/ Chief Executives at the ITF Yenagoa Area Office in Yenagoa. 

In his response to the award, the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Governor Douye Diri, stated that his administration remains committed to youth development through various youth empowerment programmes in the State.

The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Labour, Empowerment and Productivity, Hon. (Dr.) Stanley Braboke, further stated that the youth empowerment programmes undertaken by the State Government are requisite components for the economic growth and development of the State.

He therefore commended the ITF for their productive collaboration with the Bayelsa State Government and their immense contributions to entrepreneurial skills development amongst the teeming youths in the State. 

On her part, the Area Manager, ITF Yenagoa Area Office, Mrs. Stella Baiyere, noted that the ITF has been in the business of providing and promoting high quality and need-based training services for national development, hence their commitment to skills acquisition training in Bayelsa State.

She added that the ITF through its programmes such as the National Industrial Skills Development Programme (NISDP), Construction Skills Empowerment Programme (CONSEP), Women Skills Empowerment Programme (WOSEP), and Passion to Profession Programme (P2PP) amongst others will cushion the skills gap challenge and create more jobs in the State.

Highlights of the event were a public lecture on the topic, "Developing an Effective Workable Solution for Youth Unemployment" by Mr. Agbo Emmanuel and the unveiling of the ITF 2024 Training Programme for Yenagoa Area Office.
