Demise of Pa Yekini Adeojo: PDP Governors’ Forum Condoles Gov. Makinde

The Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum (PDP-GF) under the Chairmanship of H.E. Senator Bala Mohammed, CON, the Governor of Bauchi State, on behalf of the member-Governors, extends its heartfelt condolences to the Governor of Oyo State, H.E. Engr. Seyi Makinde and the entire Adeojo Family of Ido Local Government Area in Oyo State on the the transition to the great beyond of their father, an exceptional sage, iconic patriot and elder statesman, Pa Yekini Adeojo on Friday, 4th April, 2025 at his Iyaganku residence in Ibadan after a brief illness.

2. At this moment of grief, the Forum commiserates with the people and government of Oyo State, the South-West Geo-political zone and particularly his children, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, the Executive Chairman of Ido LGA, and Hon. Elias Adeojo, the Chairman of the Oyo State Water Corporation and so many other great scions that came from his loins. We urge them to find comfort in the exemplary and impactful life that their patriarch lived.


3. Chief Adeojo - a revered political titan, one of the founding members of the PDP in Oyo State/South West region and a respected traditional leader, who held the prestigious title of Seriki Musulumi of Yorubaland was the PDP flag-bearer in the 1999 gubernatorial election, a former Deputy National Chairman (South) of the PDP, a former member of the PDP Board of Trustees, and a key mentor to H.E. Seyi Makinde. He was an epitome of firm stance for humanity, good conscience and social justice; and his demise is a monumental loss to the PDP, Ibadanland, Oyo State, and the entire country as his wisdom, guidance, sacrifice, dedication to public service and unity of the people, and leadership parameters will be greatly missed.


4. The Forum joins in prayer for Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljanah Firdaus; as well as give Gov. Makinde and the entire Adeojo Family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

The meeting, held at the Plateau State Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos was attended by the principal organs of the party: l NWC, PDP-GF, BOT, NASS Forum, Former Governors Forum, Former Ministers' Forum and other leaders of the party.
