Gov Kefas Presents Staff of Office To Traditional Rulers

The Governor of Taraba state, Dr Agbu Kefas, has warned traditional rulers in the State to exercise caution in the issuance of traditional titles as those undeserving will be revoked.

The Governor issued the warning on Friday at the Exco Chamber TY Danjuma House Jalingo, during a presentation of staff of office to the Third class Chiefs of Ando-Idi and the Gara Chanchanji.

Presenting the staff of offices to the Third Class Chiefs of Ando-Idi, His Royal Highness, Manu Wunuken Emmanuel Masa Ibi, Kun Cio Ando Idi and HRH Umaru Kumbyera, the 

Gara Chanchanji, Governor Kefas observed that some Chieftaincy titles offered by traditional rulers are undeserving and uncalled for.

He said traditional titles should be based on the track record of excellence and not for political reasons.

Dr Agbu Kefas noted that his administration will continue to strengthen the traditional institutions and fill the gap where necessary.

He said their selections were purely done by the people themselves and not the government and urged them to prioritize peace and ensure that criminal elements don't have a place in their domains.

He emphasized the need for the traditional rulers to stay in their domains with their people to serve them better.

The Chief Judge of Taraba state, Justice Filibus Joel Agya, administered the oath of office and that of allegiance to the two royal Fathers.

In his vote of thanks on behalf of his colleague, the Chief of Ando Idi, His Royal Highness Manu Wunuken Emmanuel Masa Ibi, tendered their gratitude to the Governor for the confidence reposed in them.

They assured the Governor of their unflinching loyalty and cooperation for the peace of their domains and the progress of the state.
