Demolition of staircase at Smart School in Oji River following integrity tests ordered by Governor Mbah

On Saturday, a staircase at the Smart Green School, Amamkpunato, Achi Uno Ward 2, Oji River LGA, was demolished after it failed a structural integrity test. This was in line with Governor Peter Mbah’s earlier directive for thorough assessments of all ongoing Smart School projects across the state. The staircase in question was among the defects previously identified by the government’s internal monitoring mechanisms. It had been flagged for remediation by the contractor at no cost to the government. The contractor responsible will also face appropriate sanctions in line with the government’s zero tolerance for substandard work. Governor Bala Mohammed Intervenes in Farmers-Herders Conflict in Darazo

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has taken decisive steps to restore peace in Darazo Local Government Area following recent clashes between farmers and herders. Accompanied by the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), traditional rulers, and other senior security officials, Mohammed convened a high-level peace meeting with stakeholders and residents of the areas affected.  Governor Mohammed while acknowledging the complexity of the conflict, said his administration had previously allocated 2,500 hectares of land each in Sade and Darazo forest reserves for farming activities.  Condemning the recent violence, Mohammed called for calm and restraint from all parties, even as he assured residents that his administration would strengthen mediation efforts and adopt further measures to ensure peaceful coexistence. …Reassigns 3 Commissioners Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, on Wednesday, rejigged his cabinet, swearing in a new Head of Service, six new Commissioners, and reassigning three others. Mbah also assigned portfolios to the new appointees following the administration of Oath of Office on them by a representative of the Ministry of Justice, Chizoba Ogbodo, at the State Executive Council Chamber, Government House, Enugu. The newly sworn-in appointees are: Dr. Godwin Anigbo, Head of Service; Engr. Benjamin Osita Okoh, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure; Prof. Benedett Ekwutosi Okoli, Commissioner for Human Development and Poverty Eradication; Enyinna Franklin Ogbonna, Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources; and Dr. Samuel Ogbu-Nwobodo, Commissioner for Trade, Investment, and Industry. Enugu Gaming and Lotto Commission Seals Illegal Gaming Outlets

As part of its renewed to enforcement drive against illegal gaming, the Enugu State Gaming and Lotto Commission has sealed several illegal and unlicensed gaming outlets in the state capital, Enugu. The commission visited and sealed unlicensed jackpot slot machine games at entertainment centres such as Ballroom, Eclipse Resort, Edge Guest House, Guaranty Resort, Kepong Villa, and Desa Park City Suite/Garden, all operated by Yanga Game. Speaking with newsmen during the enforcement exercise at the weekend,  Executive Secretary of the Commission, Prince Arinze Arum, stressed that the agency’s mandate included issuing of license to gaming operators and monitoring their activities to make sure they comply with the laws and set rules governing gaming in the state.
